Bruce A. Jacobs is a poet and free-lance writer. His book of poems, Speaking Through My Skin (Michigan State University Press, 1997), won the Naomi Long Madgett Poetry Award. He is also the author of a nonfiction book, Race Manners, published by Arcade in 1999. He lives in Maryland, and he believes in buying books at exactly four times the speed at which he is able to read them.
